As shown in the video above, I have
come to realize that having money or not having money can make all the
difference throughout a daily person’s life, it can make you or break you. The
notion of having money is really essential when it comes down to survival as
well as being healthy. After all, without money, one’s life can result in a
lack of necessary items—one being food. In the video, a political figure that
goes by the name of Erick Joya conducts a self-study that consists of experiencing
the life of a person that is on food stamps. Like most people on welfare, he is
only allowed $28 dollars per week and can buy solely groceries with that money.
As he takes a trip to the grocery store, he finds himself picking up a copy of
the sales for that week. He talks about how difficult it is to only use up $28
dollars and still try to be healthy. As Erick Joya says, most of the time, the
food that is the cheapest and unhealthiest is already chosen for you even
before you walk in the door. Food items like canned tuna, boxes with raw pasta,
tubs of butter, and yellow cheese singles aren’t the healthiest—containing high
fats and is simply just not good for you. Living this lifestyle is very
unhealthy for anyone and everyone. It can potentially lead to many diseases and
life-changing health risks such as: high cholesterol, high blood pressure,
obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
